The different levels of apprenticeship

There are 4 different levels of apprenticeship available:

  • Intermediate apprenticeships (Level 2): These are like the starting point for apprenticeships and are equal to GCSEs
  • Advanced apprenticeships (Level 3): These offer more specialised knowledge and skills  and are equal to A levels..
  • Higher apprenticeships (Level 4-5): These apprenticeships focus on higher-level professional skills and are like the first year of a university degree.
  • Degree apprenticeships (Level 6-7): These are like getting a Bachelor's or Master’s degree,  Some may require certain qualifications, for example GCSE English and maths. You may be given extra training to meet these qualifications.
